Christmas!!!

So I decided I'd probably better get our Christmas tree pictures up before Christmas.... So here they are. We got a real tree this year, which was excellent because last year our apartment was too small for one so we ended up getting a little two or three foot tall fake one. Love it when you can have a full size tree!

There is a story behind the thick lights... We didn't have enough so we went to the store to get more and thought we got the right kind, but alas, we got the weird wrap around a pillar ones. Oh well they work :) And yes we are totally ghetto because of it!

These are some silly ones of Scott. Hee hee hee
He was holding Tad real tight and he was freaking out. Hence both expressions on human and dog. lol Gotta love my boys! And Beau is a very talented picture avoider so no pictures of him...

Day Thirteen

Five things I did today:

1. I went to work (not exciting, just stinky).

2. I went to the library (this is almost one of my favorite places. The library here is kind of ridiculous when compared with the one I grew up with. But I found a few books)

3. I went to Walmart, but they didn't have everything I needed. Booooo!

4. I loaded some of my CD's onto my computer again because it lost all my music (this seems to be a common theme in my life....)

5. I took my doggies for a walk!!

Not too bad of a day if you minus work, but I'll take it.

Day Twelve

Nicknames.... Well my name is a nickname I guess. My real name is Jessica, but everyone calls me Jessie or Jess. My personal favorite is from before I can remember. My mom told me that my older brother couldn't say my name for awhile so he called me Caca instead. I should go back to that lol. A few friends in high school called me Pepper (cause my last name was Salter. Get it? ha ha) Scott occasionally calls me that too. I don't really have any other good nicknames. At least that's all I can think of.... :)

Day Eleven

Favorite movie.... This is a ridiculous one because I have so many favorites! Some of my more recent favorites are Easy A, Tangled, Footloose (BOTH!!!!) and Get Smart. Some of my favorites of all time are Labyrinth, Willow, Goonies and Man from Snowy River. That's just the ones I can think of at the moment. I end up watching a lot of westerns (not always my favorite) and a lot of Hogan's Heros. That show is very funny. I highly recommend it. Bones is my absolute favorite TV show though. It makes Scott sick to watch! Ha ha ha!

Day Ten

My Bestest best friend would have to be Shilo!!

She is actually my cousin, but we have been friends forever. She is currently going to nursing school and will graduate next spring! So excited for her. I love to talk with her and hang out. We have very deep (and not so deep) conversations about pretty much everything. She is my absolute FAVORITE!!!
And we love being silly!!! :)

Craft Fun!

So last weekend, Scott was out of town so I went shopping. Never a good idea, but I found some really cool boxes that I had to decorate. I spent all of Saturday afternoon sticking paper to them. They turned out quite cute if I do say so myself.

Beau's Second Cruciate Surgery...

I know another one right? So Beau had to have his other leg operated on about two months after the first. He tore that cruciate ligament as well. When I went to get him the vet told me that his miniscus had been torn as well so that was probably part of the reason the first side tore. This was in August. These are pictures from the day I brought him home.

Very swollen foot :(

My poor guy had to have a shaved bum all over again. He did a lot better after this surgery and is acting more like himself now! Love having my boy back! :)

Day Nine

Things in my purse:
Obviously my wallet and check book are in there plus a pen

The paper is from Ruby and you can kind of see where I traced her hand. This was in church and we were coloring :) The key chain looking thing is a horse hair decoration from an old bridle. My dad has the other one. The horse shoe is from a bookmark my mom gave me that fell off. It says good luck. Love my parents!
And I can't go anywhere without the keys and cell phone!

so my purse is super boring, but I really don't like to carry that much in it if I don't have to :)

Day Eight

These boots are way cute and I would really like them for church. :)Ariat Ladies Brown Marble Cowgirl Boot with White Roses

Day Seven

There is no way that I will be able to narrow my favorite music down! I am a music freak and I like all kinds for the most part. Obviously country is my favorite, but the old stuff is way better than all this new stuff they call country :) I also really like hip hop/pop when I'm in the mood.

Here are a few of my favorites from youtube. Hope you enjoy!

So this is just a sampling of what I like and my ipod has a lot more random music on it. I LOVE music!! (has to be one of my favorite things ever)

Day Six

Pictures from childhood :)

Yep, we start 'em early out here.

I was such a cute little chunker!

And yes this addiction also started at a very young age. This is my first horse that I really remember. Kipper was his name.

Day Five

Some where I've been.... Well yesterday we went to Burley, but on the way we stopped in the City of Rocks. It was pretty neat. We didn't stay very long, but I think it would be fun to go there again and look around a little more. City of Rocks is like a rock climber's paradise. Lots of huge rocks to climb. There is also a lot of hiking to do as well.

Beau Update

Here are some pictures of Beau about a month after his surgery. He is doing quite well considering Tad has caused some setbacks. His hair is also starting to grow in a little so he doesn't look so funny :)

Check out the new ride!

So a couple months ago my Focus kicked the bucket so we've been looking for another car so I don't have to drive the Abomination. We finally found one this week. I am now the proud owner of a Nissan Sentra, equipped with sunroof and awesome stereo (now that I put it in). So cool. Here are some pictures!

Day Four

My favorite place to eat... That's a tough one because I like too many places. I really like Taco Time, although it took my a few years after I stopped working there to handle it again. In Logan there is a mexican place called El Toro that is way good too. I recently discovered Great Harvest. They have good sandwiches and the best desserts. Another good dessert place is Sweetly Divine. Worth every penny. La Beau's is a really good burger place in Logan too. I pretty much like something everywhere. Zupas and Fazoli's are also good choices.

Bye Zeke

Well, Zeke is no longer with us. Scott decided to give him to a friend who works on a ranch. He is now a happy cow dog and Scott's friend says he is getting used to all the other dogs, but he is the most friendly. I hope he likes his new home. I miss you little Zekers. :(

Goodbye GRE!!!

I took the Graduate Record Exam today as part of my application for vet school. I've been studying for it for about two and half months and I was very nervous to take it. When I got there I had to do some paper work and there was a section where you had to copy something, but you had to do it in cursive. I was so nervous about the test that I completely botched that part. Good thing it was part of the test.

It's a computer based test so you know what you get on two parts of it. The essay part gets graded and sent to you later. I was very, very happy with my score of 1200. Not to brag, but that's pretty good. So there GRE! You can't beat me! lol It was a good day after all :)

My Family

Well, since Elise already told you everything about my family.... Gosh! Just kidding sissy poo! :)

I'm the youngest of three kids and I have one brother and one sister. My brother, Colt, just graduated from BYU with a political science degree. Shauna, his wife, graduated from BYU as well with a degree in economics. They have one little girl named Ruby and another little bundle of joy on the way. Colt is thinking about applying to law school right now so we'll see where they end up. He likes to play video games and computer games. He also likes to tease me a lot.

Elise is my sister and she is a nurse (super cool!). She is big into fashion and always dresses with class. She graduated from the U. Her husband Matt just graduated with a degree in biology from the U too. He works at the airport so they get to travel a lot. They've gone to some pretty awesome places that maybe one day I might get to see.

My mom is amazing. She is an accountant and she really knows her stuff.  She is one of the most talented horse people I know. She sews and quilts like a pro and pretty much everything she does turns out awesome. :)

My dad is the best. He loves to ride horses. He is also an excellent farrier. He is a diesel mechanic and knows a ton about cars. He likes to read all about history, but mostly westerns. He likes old country music and he plays the guitar very well. I love to hear him play.

So that's my family. They are the best a girl could ask for!

Day One - Me!!!

So I don't really have a very recent picture of myself. This was last August at our Region horseshow in Logan. My 15 facts are as follows, but I don't think all of them are that interesting:

1. I love to ride horses (Duh!)
2. I love to sew and be crafty.
3. I love to read all sorts of books. Pretty sure I read every one in the library when I was a kid.
4. I'm almost done with my Master's Degree in Extension Education (the countdown is on!).
5. I'm applying for vet school this summer.
6. I really like to bake, but only desserts :0)
7. I'm learning how to rope (very slowly to Scott's dismay).
8. I'm a night owl and I am very grumpy in the morning.
9. I currently am learning lots of big words for the GRE and I bug everyone when I drop them. It's kinda funny.
10. Scott and I teach the Sunbeams in our ward and we come home and nap pretty much every Sunday after church. They are so exhausting!
11. I used to collect stuffed animals. I had over 100 and each had a name that I remembered.
12. I love chocolate. It really is a "bandaid" some days :).
13. I have a shoe/boot addiction. Not good...
14. I really love school. I know, I know what a nerd, right?
15. I'm a game buff. I love to play almost any game any time.

Well, that was harder than I thought it would be, but there you go!

Beau's Cruciate Surgery

About a week and a half ago, Beau started limping. I didn't really think anything of it because usually he stops in a day or so. He didn't this time. I took him to the vet and lo and behold he had torn his ACL. So the only okay option was surgery. I wasn't excited and I'm sure if Beau knew what was coming he wouldn't have been either. On June 1st, 2011, he went in for a cruciate surgery. He came home that night and was all bandaged up and sore. He didn't feel good at all. I took some pictures the day after surgery.

This is the incision all sewn up the day after he got home

Needless to say, it was a rough couple of days for him. On a happier note, he is doing lots better and is even walking on his leg now. Scott still calls him Shaved Bum, but oh well. Hopefully his hair will grow back in before winter time.

Here are some pictures of Beau one week after his surgery.
Playing with his bone and doing much better

Incision site one week after surgery. It's already starting to close up and it looks a lot less mean than a week ago.

The "Boys"

I'm now going to officially introduce you to the "boys". The first one is Beau.
He is a blue heeler, which is a cow dog, but he is most definitely not a cow dog. He is my inside dog (like all the others aren't) and I've had him since he was a puppy. He is seven years old now. He lived with my parents the first three years of I went to college, but thanks to nice people that let us have our dogs he is now with us.  He loves to go for walks and play catch.

Next in the line up is Tad. We got Tad last summer at the fair for $12. His kennel cost us more than that, but I'll take him any day.
He is my crazy boy that loves to play and annoy whenever possible. Especially Beau. He always has way too much energy and I can't ever seem to make him sit still for more than about two seconds. He's always fun for a good laugh with all his crazy antics.

The newest addition to the "boys" is Zeke. He's Scott's cow dog (well when he gets a little bigger) and is a Border Collie Heeler cross. Scott got him from his boss at work.
I don't have a very good picture of him seeings how we haven't had him for a week yet. He is such a cutie and he has one ear that hasn't come up yet. That is my absolute favorite. I hope it doesn't come up. It gives him more personality. Zeke loves to play with Tad and run around. I'm sure I'll see more of his personality develop as he gets bigger.

And last, but most certainly not least, is Scott. I met Scott on a blind date and never thought I'd see him again. He had big plans to go work on some ranch in Nevada and be a cowboy. I guess I convinced him to stay. We got married on May 9th, 2009.
Scott loves to rope and ride horses. He also really enjoys terrorizing the dogs. He wants to be a ranch manager one day.
So those are the "boys." Love, love, love all of them!!

Introductions

So as introductions go, I'm Jessie and this is my blog. My sister has been wanting me to start a blog for a while now so here I go. This could get interesting....

A little background info: Scott and I have been married for a little over two years now and we have three dogs. We are both going to school. Scott is working on his bachelor's in animal science and I'm working on my masters in extension education.

We both come from agricultural backgrounds. We love to ride horses, but in two very different venues. Scott basically loves to do anything that involves cows and roping. Me on the other hand, I have a need for speed! I love to run barrels and pole bend and all that crazy stuff.

So that's us!
